Welcome from Chief Executive, Angela Scott
Aberdeen City Council is leading an unprecedented period of change in the city – and as an organisation we are also transforming.
It is a period in which we face enormous challenges but equally we are embracing exciting new opportunities. To help guide that journey we are seeking inspirational leaders to spearhead an entirely new operating model.
The target operating model aims to create a customer-focused structure and a series of digital platforms that will change the way the organisation currently works.
The model will also introduce an outcome-based commissioning approach to service delivery in order to ensure best value for the public pound and to improve on the outcomes that matter to our customers.
Using this approach will ensure that our customers receive the right support, at the right time, in the right place through one single organisational function. It will remove time consuming working practices thereby releasing time for our staff to care for our customers. And it will ensure the financial sustainability of the Council.
Following an extensive recruitment campaign, the Council will soon welcome four Directors to lead the organisation through a new senior management structure based on four key functions: Customer, Commissioning, Operations and Resources. There will also be two additional functions: Place and Governance.
We now have a unique opportunity to build a dynamic, forward thinking management team to support these Directors. We are looking for candidates to fill a range of Chief Officer roles who have the energy, ambition and initiative to drive Aberdeen City Council forward. This is your chance to become a key player in what is an exciting opportunity.
A common requirement across all of these roles is the capability and competency to deliver on the key themes of the target operating model – Community Empowerment, Early Intervention and Prevention and Enabling Technology.
Appointment of this new leadership team is a key next step within our Transformation Portfolio. We are looking for individuals who not only must work together and with the Corporate Management Team to improve outcomes but who will also collaborate with partner organisations to support the ambitions of Aberdeen.
You could be part of our programme to build the Council of the future - an organisation that will be radically different to the one that serves Aberdeen at present.
I invite you to join us in Shaping Aberdeen and look forward to receiving your application.
